David Miretsky
Born in Kiev, Ukraine in 1939, Miretsky studied at the Kiev Art Institute. Solo exhibitions in Kiev, Moscow, and St. Petersburg preceded his immigration to the United States in 1975 in pursuit of artistic and political freedom.
Miretsky’s work has since been widely exhibited in the United States, from Chicago to Cincinnati and Tulsa to New York, and in the collections of the Zimmerly Art Museum at Rutgers University. His works are also found in the Cincinnati Museum of Art, the Tucson Museum of Art and the National Art Museum of Ukraine. Miretsky’s most recent solo exhibition, Ukraine Before the War: Nature Paintings by David Miretsky opened at the Ukraine House Foundation in Washington, DC in March 2025.
Miretsky was the subject of four solo exhibitions at Ivan Karp’s OK Harris Gallery between 1999 and 2010.
