The Armory Show takes place from September 24-27, 2026. We will be showing eight new paintings from Camille Fishel’s Bending Over Backwards series. Fishel looks at all the ways women are expected to bend, twist, shrink, and reshape themselves to fit what the world asks of them. Through exaggerated and impossible poses, the women quite literally bend over backwards—turning familiar pressures into something physical, playful, and at times absurd. Executed in oil on canvas, the works are architecturally surreal, playing with depth and perspective within the confines of a grid.
