This exhibition brings together eleven paintings focusing on the 1960’s in conjunction with the artist’s estate and Alan Wheatley. Davie, a major British artist, emerged in the 1950’s as an abstract expressionist before developing his own visual language through interests in Zen Buddhism, Jainism, Celtic art, and mysticism. A painter, poet, professional jazz musician and amateur glider pilot, Davie pursued a wide range of engagements with the spiritual world.
